I spoke to the barista's at the Rockaway Starbucks and they said it would be going into the mall next to Shoprite.

The sign is up! It should be here by the end of June.

ohhhhhhh Yummy, burnt tasting coffee and overpriced artery clogging snacks... I think I'll keep going to the diner and any sheep that need to flock over to Starbucks should hit the farm in Long Valley...

I hear that. A coffee shop on Main Street, or was it in Mendhem, sold Starbucks coffee, and after a week they dropped it. Not the best coffee, and I could go without the blank stares of some pimply teenagers as they add syrup and whipped cream to their ridiculously priced brew. I'm not sure the diner is the option (for coffee), but we do owe it to the community to support the Chester based businesses over some huge chain. And I KNOW of several that serve much better coffee!!!

Yup, like KC's and what about the old Turkey farm, has anyone hit their coffee room? and for an honest cup of Joe, Hot Bagel or something like that, next to Rite Aid. Dunkin donuts is nothing to write home about, but its priced better, but Starbucks? yuck. What a waste. I'd like to think the folks here in Chester are a little too savvy for that.

Sounds like someones coffess was too bitter this morning. There is nothing like waiting for a store to open to make a judgement about it's quality of product, service and clientle.

Just some food for thought, or should I say, some dark brown liquid to consider.

excited as in nervous excitement, like jitters from too much caffiene

or excited that finally come competition who will give choices to the other local shops

or excited that you will get to see your apprarent dream come true of another failed business that you can relish in

or are you just excitable in general so even the most sublime conversation can make your day?

I know I am excited to hear just why you are so excited. If anyone else is reading this thread, I'm sure they have stopped all their activities as well and are standing by to find out.

Nope. All THOSE people are all standing by waiting for Starbucks to open.
and I never relish in the failure of a business, but on occassion I do find myself astonished at its success.
Have fun finding a parking spot while you pay your 8 bucks for coffee, I know someone out there must be excited about that. Dont you think? ;)
By the way, do you like Red Lobster too???

If I may interject in this wonderful debate, lol. As a resident I do like to see new business in town. However I am a fan of local stores more that huge corporations. They aren't inherantly evil or anything, I just see them as more hype and fad than anything else, and why not support local area people.

There are some I am sure that like starbucks brand of coffee, good for them. Its a free market and should stay that way.

Again however, I prefer small friendly places that know you. Never been a fan of $6 coffe either, lol. When I can get an entire breakfast for that elsewhere.

Anyway just my 2 cents. I don't think it will change the landscape of town to much, since those that like drinking their coffee are probably getting it somewhere else already.

Actually, I am not fond to Starbucks. I find the coffee stong and bitter. I also belive it shopping local and helping build community based business.

However, as the previous post mentions,"There are some I am sure that like starbucks brand of coffee, good for them. Its a free market and should stay that way".

What aggrevated me were the slamming postings in this forum. Personal taste is one thing that should not be put into rants about a business, especially one that is not open to state it's own case.

I apologise for my own rude comments and hope that the fair competiton between coffee shops in the area answers the debate of it's own accord.

Thank God that so many of us are still going to support our local stores who have made Historic Chester what it is today, where were the SB's 10 years ago when everyone was struggling to survive. I for one will NOT buy any coffee at SB or ice cream at Coldstone what ever it is, give me our good old Dairy Queen, Taylors , KC's, Sally Lunns & Sierra's. These huge chains are gobbling up all the small business's all with the help of our town officials. What happened to the poor guy who had his business stolen from him so that Star Bucks & Cold Stone could move in???? The Mall owners, Shopright that is, refused to renew his lease, shame on them! I hope Wegmans or Whole Foods moves into town & puts Shopright out of their business!

Even Starbucks started off as a small, little business. But because it made such great coffee, and because they ran their business so well, they managed to grow until they became the corporate powerhouse it is today. And that is why we should all let Starbucks stay.

Of course Starbucks can stay, that wasnt the point. I disagree with the great coffee part, but heartily agree with the good business aspects of their plan.. in fact, with such horrible coffee, all girlied up with sugar and syrup.. it makes their marketing and business strategy all the more impressive... I mean it with all sincerity, anyone can get lucky with a fabulous product... but who can grow an empire based on swill.... now thats REALLY impressive... as with anything, they will find their place in the Chester market.. Probably with teenagers who still think its cool, and folks looking for a place to sit and talk about the specials at the Steak and Ale and their latest bunion surgery.. oh I am sure Starbucks will stay.. all hail the marketing genius of Starbucks and never underestimate the masses willing to buy into it... but save a place at Sally Lunns for me.. I choose to support Chester, even if the folks that run the town could obviously care less about us...and BTW.. Whole Foods?... yes... YES!!!!!!! I'll never ask for anything again.
